In a shopping street in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district, some people were selling their wares from food stalls, while others carried a carrying pole and sold their wares. The man with the hat in the photo was the latter. The man seemed to be tired, so he put his carrying pole on the ground and sat down on the ground himself.
Judging from the white plastic bowls strapped to the end of the balance bar, the man seemed to be selling refreshments. As I approached, the man responded with a thumbs up. I wondered if there was a kind of street tax in Bangkok as well. It seems to me that it would be much easier to set up a stall and do business than to carry a carrying pole.
