When you hear the name "the Imperial city" in the ancient capital of Meknes, you may get the impression that there is only the former royal palace there. However, there are some buildings in the area that seem to be ordinary residences. The door in this photo is not the door of a historical building, but probably the door of an ordinary residence.
The door I saw while walking around was open and I could see what was going on inside from the outside. I was expecting to see a house, but all I could see was a staircase. Then, in the middle of the stairs, I saw a woman clad in Jellaba. The woman was standing in the middle of the stairs, talking to someone, and did not seem to be moving.
