An elderly woman wearing a hijab and clad in jellaba was walking down the road of the wind extending into the Imperial city. Immediately behind her, I saw an entranceway in the shape of a horseshoe arch and an iron-framed window on the wall. In Morocco, horseshoe arches are often seen here and there. It seems that horseshoe arches are so common in Morocco that you can hardly go a day without seeing one when you are walking around town. Why is the horseshoe so popular? Is it because the onion-like shape reminds people of the roof of a mosque? I am not sure.
