There is an iris field in the Meiji Jingu Gyoen, which was built by Emperor Meiji for Empress Shoken in 1893. When I visited, the field was covered with snow, so unfortunately I could not see the irises. It is winter now. If you visit in June, the peak season, you will surely see the beautiful irises.
A small path stretched along the iris field. At the end of it, I saw a hut. The scene before me was so peaceful that I felt as if I had gone out to the countryside. It was hard to believe that I was in the heart of Tokyo. The Gyoen garden was quiet. Perhaps the snow on the ground was absorbing all the hustle and bustle of the city.
