Many people are walking along the spacious approach to the shrine. Not only those who came to pay their respects were walking along the approach to the shrine. The shrine has become a tourist attraction, attracting many foreign tourists. Shinto is a religion unique to Japan and is not found anywhere else in the world, making the shrine a perfect place for foreign tourists to feel exotic.
Many foreign visitors are also from China. The shrine enshrines Emperor Meiji, who was the commander-in-chief during the Sino-Japanese War, but tourists may not care much about that.
Barrels of sake were piled up beside the approach to the shrine, and the sun shone down on them through the trees. The barrels looked lively in the sunlight, and many tourists stopped to take pictures.
