I stopped at an intersection and waited for the light to change. In front of me, a father and a little girl were waiting at the light as well. The girl looked a little tired. She crouched down on the ground. Beside her, the father put his hands on his hips and looked blankly at the pedestrian signal on the other side. Perhaps he too was a little tired.
This street was a major thoroughfare, with a constant flow of traffic. So it takes quite a while for the pedestrian signal to turn green. During that time, all of us could only stand there, doing nothing. People seemed to be sinking into their own thoughts and sensations as the silent time passed by.
