As I was walking in Dhaka, a rickshaw wallah with a towel wrapped around his neck came and stood in front of me. With a slightly creepy smile on his face, he blocked my path.
I wondered what was going through the man's mind. Maybe he saw me as a duck with a leek on my back and thought he could make a little money by carrying me along.
If that's the case, I was afraid his guess was completely off. I'm just a backpacker with no money. Contrary to the man's expectations, I spend more time walking around the city on my own than riding a vehicle. On this occasion, I had no intention of taking any kind of vehicle, and I was ready to walk.
