The Senso-ji temple grounds were crowded with many worshippers. Standing near the entrance to the main hall at the top of the stairs, looking toward the approach, I could see an incense burner buried in the midst of the visitors. Smoke was rising from the censer as incense was thrown in one after the other.
It was not a festival day today, just an ordinary weekend. Even so, the approach to the temple was filled with many worshippers. I could see the Nakamise Street beyond the Hozomon Gate in the middle of the approach was also overflowing with people. I wondered how many people were in the precincts.
