Betel Leaves

Woman setting out betel leaves

The woman set out the leaves on the floor

Shot in the city of Pyay, Myanmar.

The woman crouched in the dim room. The family groceries were seen on the other side of her. This room seemed to double as a store. Thanaka was painted on her face like other locals.

Many leaves were put on the floor in front of her. She was setting up betel leaves for chewing. They were called 'Kun' and many locals liked to chew like smoking cigarettes. She sold them at the edge of the eaves of her house.
