I met a young boy in an alleyway in Pune. When I pointed the camera at him, he stretched his arms upwards and started twisting around. But he kept his face firmly turned towards my camera. His smiling gaze was focused straight into my lens. The boy seemed to be embarrassed as best he can.
When I travel in India and point my camera at children, I often see ambivalent expressions of happiness and disgust. It's true that it's nice to have a camera pointed at them, but at the same time, it's probably very embarrassing.
