Seeing that the fishing village I had once visited still existed, I felt a strong urge to go back. But there was one problem—I wasn’t sure how to get there. I had been here 14 years ago, yet I had completely forgotten the way. Though the village was clearly visible from the coastal road, I couldn’t figure out how to reach it. The frustration of seeing my destination yet not knowing the path was oddly unsettling.
I approached a man who seemed to have time on his hands and asked for directions. He pointed toward a dimly lit alley and told me to go through it. Looking in the direction he indicated, I saw a narrow passageway, unlit and gaping like the entrance to a tunnel. It felt a little daunting, but with no alternative route in sight, I hesitantly stepped forward.
Emerging from the darkness, my view suddenly opened up. Before me stretched the same shoreline I had glimpsed from the road moments earlier. And just like that, the past 14 years seemed to vanish—everything looked just as I remembered. As I stood there, taking in the familiar sight, a young boy passed by, flashing a shy smile before disappearing into the village.
