I was walking down an alley near Yangon Central Station, where the air was relaxed. Here, women are busy moving about. There are many chores to be done. In this country, where washing machines are not common, laundry has to be done by hand. On the other hand, in contrast to the women, the men generally seem to have a lot of free time on their hands. As in other Asian countries, women are harder workers than men here. This is probably due to the gender role that women are supposed to do the housework.
The young man in the photo is one of those who seemed to have a lot of free time on his hands. He was sitting in an alley with a blue guitar, playing it at his leisure. Unfortunately, when I stopped in front of him, he stopped playing. He was hiding his face with his hands, perhaps embarrassed by being stared at by a strange foreigner. I was curious to know what kind of music the locals liked, but I did not know what kind of music the man was playing. It would have been fun if he had started playing Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," which would have been an unexpected choice.
