The older woman with the earrings standing in the doorway averted her gaze
When I was walking in the old town of Galle, which is registered as a World Heritage Site, I unexpectedly came across many locals. There are many people who are spending their free time in front of their houses, and since there are not so many tourists walking around, I often meet their eyes.
An elderly woman with large earrings was also standing in the doorway, doing nothing. I looked at her and she smiled, so I took my camera. Yet she looked away with a shy smile. For the woman, there seems to be a bit of an imbalance between smiling and having her picture taken. I guess she was confused.
