In Malacca, I passed a small park where a large tree had been planted and a bench had been set up underneath. Two women wearing hijab were sitting on the bench. The bench in the shade of the tree was a bit cool and must have been a good place to relax and chat. A cat, perhaps attracted by the coolness, had also come to the shade of the tree.
As a pagan, it seems cooler to me to take off hijabs than to cool off on a bench in the shade. But that may be the shallow wisdom of the pagans. If they are hesitant to take it off in front of men, would they feel more comfortable taking it off if there was a space for women only?
