The man, whose head, beard, and chest hair were all gray, was a tobacconist. A small store on a street corner in Kolkata was the man's workplace. A wooden bowl can be seen on his lap. The bowl was filled with scraps of tobacco leaves. These scraps are rolled up and sold as homemade cigarettes without filters.
The man's store sold not only homemade cigarettes, but of course, many brand-name cigarettes as well. If you look behind him, you can see boxes of cigarettes of famous brands piled up. Along with them, the man was also selling homemade cigarettes. The prices of the homemade cigarettes and the famous brand cigarettes were totally different. The customers who come to buy them are different.
As I approached, the man gave me a suspicious look. Without being intimidated by this, I pointed my camera at him. Without saying a word, the man continued to roll his cigarette silently.
