Small tobacco stands like the one in the photo are open for business here and there in Kolkata. But cigarettes are not the only thing they sell. They also sell juice and sweets. They are like kiosks.
The photo is also of a tobacco shop I saw in Kolkata. The owner of the store was sitting inside, looking at the traffic with a grim expression on his face. Various types of cigarettes were displayed on the shelves behind him. Perhaps he is worried that cigarette sales are declining amid the global health boom.
