Silhoutted couple descending stairway together — Entrance hall of Odakyu Southern Tower

Benches were placed in front of the glass wall and many people were relaxing. Through the windows, one could see several buildings, but the hustle and bustle of the city could not penetrate into the buildings. The entrance hall of Odakyu Southern Tower had a calm atmosphere. There was a staircase along the wall, and a silhouetted couple was slowly descending from the second floor in a row.

There are many cafes here and there in Shinjuku. Some are chains and some are independent cafes. Despite the differences in management styles, they are all crowded. As someone who likes to read in coffee shops, Shinjuku is quite a daunting place for me, and I always have a hard time finding a place to read. In that sense, this place might be a good place for reading. The benches are not crowded and the atmosphere is relaxed. In fact, some of the people sitting on the benches are also reading. But one problem remains. I smoke while reading, and this place is a no-smoking zone for all intents and purposes.
