The village of Maligcong was surrounded by rice terraces. Because the level ground was hard to find here, they planted rice in the rice terrace built on the steep slope. Apparently, some of them were not used at that time.
I heard the agriculture was an unpopular job for young people. The rice agriculture might be more trouble than it was worth. And the young people might prefer to work in the big city or in the tourism industry to earn money promptly.
