The name of this area derived from the name of a bridge 'Kyobashi' spanned over Kyobashi river. The bridge had a long history. And it was one of the two important bridges of the Tokugawa shogunate along with the Nihonbashi bridge. Yet it is impossible to see the bridge, much less the river in today's environment. No matter how much you walk around the area, you can't find both of them.
In 1959, the river was reclaimed completely as a part of the reconstruction project after WWII. A capital freeway runs above what was the river in the old days. And many modern buildings stand in this area. Tokyo Square Garden is one of them. Entering the site, a long flight of stairs was there. No one was on the stairway. Alternatively, an old couple sat together on the bench placed on the top of the staircase.
