Koza had prospered because an American base was located in the city. Once, the abandoned shopping arcade in the photo was a busy street called 'KOKUJIN-GAI', literally the city for African American who were working in the army. And it was said white Americans had never played in this area. Even though they were on the outside of their home country, they lived separately.
As time went by, the number of American soldiers decreased. And this area was occupied by the shuttered stores.
