The two boys had contrasting reactions when I turned the camera on them

Boys in contrast

The Godavari River flows through the town of Nasik. On its banks, pilgrims are constantly coming to Ramkund, a holy place. Rituals were being performed by the riverside, and the smoke of incense was rising quietly.

As I was walking along a corner of the town, two boys appeared. They were around ten years old. One was wearing a faded T-shirt and short pants. The other was neatly dressed in a shirt with a fine striped pattern. They appeared to be local children, playing nearby.

They must have noticed that I was walking around with a camera in my hand. They approached me smiling and gestured for me to take their picture. When I pointed my lens at them, one of them immediately struck a joking pose. He twisted his body and stood in front of the camera with a big smile on his face, as if it were an extension of play.

The other child, meanwhile, stood quietly next to him. He stood erect, expression unchanging, staring straight into my camera. Neither of us was right. But the difference in their posture naturally reflected their personalities.
