A laborer in a striped shirt was sitting on a cart resting in a corner of the market in Murshidabad. He had taken off his footwear and was relaxing. From the looks of it, this man's job was to unload the cargo that had been brought in by truck, and he seemed to be waiting for the next job. But the truck didn't come, and the job didn't come. The man just sat and waited.
I wondered if laborers like him were paid by the hour or by the day. Either way, I was worried that the man would not be able to earn enough money if he waited too long. When I pointed my camera at the man, he noticed that I was holding it. He turned around and smiled at me.
