There was an area along the Ayeyarwady River lined with modest houses. Walking in such an area is often enjoyable. I had learned this from experience, so here in Pyay I stepped into the area. When I entered the area, there were many children playing, as if there was no school that day. One of them was a boy with a baby on his back.
Like in other Southeast Asian countries, it is quite normal for children to take care of children in Myanmar. The boy carrying the baby on his back was probably his little brother. When I turned on the camera, the boy smiled at me, but the baby did not. He seemed a little frightened. He returned a look that revealed his wariness.
