There was construction going on at the end of the alley. I could see men working. A hose was extending toward the construction site, so I guessed they were working on a water main. But the hose had no water running through it and remained flat. In any case, it must be difficult to work in such a narrow alley. It is difficult to carry any kind of work equipment down a narrow alley. Various tasks would have to be done by hand.
