As I walked through the town of Pyay, I saw a small house and a young girl sitting on the floor. There was a notebook open in front of her and the girl was writing something in it. She was doing her homework. Besides the girl seemed to be enjoying her studies. She must have a bright future.
When I traveled in Myanmar, I often see many people reading books on the street. The literacy rate in Myanmar is quite high, about 92%. Incidentally, Bangladesh has a low literacy rate of only 55.9% among the countries I have visited. Nearly half of the citizens are illiterate.
Since literacy depends on whether people can read or not, a high literacy rate may mean that people are well educated. I was surprised to see that the girl in the house who was in full view from the outside was studying hard, so I was convinced that Myanmar's education was good.
