The eatery was located a short distance away from the busy Klong Toei market in Bangkok. It was not mealtime when I passed by, so there were no customers. It was quiet and deserted. Instead of customers, a young boy was sitting at a table in front of the restaurant. He was probably a child of this diner. His shirt with Doraemon on it was too short. Doraemon is a character born in Japan, but he is also popular in Thailand. In fact, a live-action version of Doraemon was even made in Thailand.
The chair he is sitting on is a little high for a boy. The boy was sitting on the edge of the chair without sitting deeply. And he was single-mindedly running a pen. He was doing his homework. He was so absorbed in his work that he did not notice when I approached him. I guess he enjoys studying. When I was a child, I used to think that when I grew up, I would never have to do homework or study again. I don't think this boy knows yet that life is a lifelong study.
