Two young women clad in saree were in Durbar Square in Patan, a World Heritage site. In Nepal, many women still dress traditionally. It is a bit strange that this is the case for only women, although all the men are dressed in Western-style clothing, except for those wearing topi caps. Is it because many women think saris are nicer? I don't know.
A closer look reveals that the saree they are both wearing look well-tailored. Perhaps they are the children of good families. When I pointed the camera at them, they smiled at me, showing their white teeth. Whenever I see a sari, I always wonder what the long, scarf-like fabric is for. Is it to make it flutter in the wind in style?
