A small shrine sits in a corner of Nihonbashi Horidomecho where buildings stand side by side. It is Sugimori Shrine. It is the local Shinto shrine, but it is now overlooked by the buildings surrounding the shrine. It seems as if every move it makes is being monitored.
As I stopped to take a breath in the precinct, I saw a man pushing a wheeled cart beyond the torii gate. He was probably collecting used paper in the area. The cart was loaded with a mountain of used paper and looked heavy. The man was pulling it with all his might. I don't know what the market price is, but I wondered how much such a large amount of used paper would be worth.
