There were numerous cracks running through the wall, and in front of it, a cat moved quietly along. It looked thin—clearly a stray. So thin, in fact, that you could guess it hadn't had a proper meal in days. The cat passed right in front of me without so much as a glance. It walked on as if I simply didn’t exist. I couldn’t even tell if it had registered my presence at all.
But I suppose that’s fair. After all, I wasn’t holding food—I was holding an SLR. Had I been carrying something edible, I imagine the cat’s attitude might have been very different.
