At a warehouse I passed in Rampur, a swarm of men moved with purpose. A truck had just arrived, loaded with goods, and the workers were busy unloading it — all by hand. No forklifts, no conveyor belts. Everything here was powered by human strength. Watching them carry sacks and crates from the truck to the warehouse, it felt almost like watching ants carrying food back to their nest.
The man in the photo was one of them. He had a massive jute sack hoisted onto his back, so large that he couldn’t lift his head. Yet somehow, even with his face down, he sensed my curious presence nearby — and without looking up, he spoke to me.
