Man Carrying Burden With A Namlo

Man carrying burden with a namlo

The burden was bigger than the man

Shot in the city of Kathmandu, Nepal.

When I stopped by the wayside, a man carrying a big burden appeared. He was using a head strap called Namlo to carry. It is a popular tool to carry burdens in Nepal. It is usually used along with a basket called Doko. Yet the man in this photo didn't use the basket. His burden was too big to put into the basket.

Looking closer, the burden which he carried was bigger than himself. So I thought the strength of the head was necessary. Because he wore a tortured expression, his burden could be so heavy.
