A boy wearing a cap was sitting on the side of the road in Kathmandu. He was looking at me intently, and when I pointed my camera at him as if in response, he gave me a refreshing smile. He had clear, double eyelids.
Unlike people in East Asia, many people in South Asia such as India and Nepal seem to have double eyelids. Or rather, it seems as if almost everyone has double eyelids. In Japan, petit cosmetic surgery is usually done to change a single eyelid to a double eyelid. However, there must not be many people around here who have such a need.
