Compared to Ubud, Denpasar, the central city of Bali, does not attract many tourists. Denpasar, once the capital of the Badung Kingdom, has a government office and is the center of commerce and education, but it is not the center of tourism. The market in Denpasar was a market for local people. Nothing for tourists is sold here.
An impressive stone gate stood at the entrance of the market, and women were hanging out around it. One had a basket with several plastic bottles beside her. To the untrained eye, the bottles in the basket appeared to be used plastic bottles. What was in the bottles? Was it a drink?
