The old quarter called Fez el Bali was originally built between 789 and 808 AD. Yet the area was still busy even now. Many shops were side by side along the narrow lanes. Of course, both the articles for sale and the owners of the shop have been changed in the long history. I have never heard there were any shops which kept doing business for over 1000 years.
One of the shops in the lane was a footwear store and a large number of sneakers were hung on the eaves of it. And a woman wearing a hijab and a coat was walking pass it.
