The bowl-shaped mounds are burial mounds built during the Silla Dynasty. Since Gyeongju was the capital of Silla Dynasty, there are remains of that era in the city. A number of preserved tombs are one of these remains.
A number of bowl-shaped tombs are preserved in a park called Daereungwon Tomb Complex in the city. However, it is no longer known who is buried in these tombs. They have been buried in the long history of the city. While structures made of stone still retain their shapes after more than 1,000 years, the information about their contents has not survived the 1,000 years and has faded away.
