A street market was being held on the side of the road. Many women were working. The young woman in the photo wearing a conical hat called a Non la was one of them. A Non la is a hat made of oil palm leaves sewn together with stiff strings and edged with bamboo, and is very useful for workers. They are very useful for workers, as they keep the sun off their heads and, most importantly, do not obstruct their hands, making it easier to work. In the hot and humid climate of Vietnam, it is common to see people wearing these hats all over the place.
