Built in the late 1600s during the Spanish colonial period, the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Soledad was built in the Baroque style, but its spire was not very high. It is said that the basilica was intentionally built low so that it would not collapse in the event of an earthquake. It seems that the Baroque style, which was born in Europe where earthquakes are not common, has been properly localized here.
A man wearing a cowboy hat was sitting at the entrance of the cathedral. Personally, I think of Europe when I think of the Baroque style, but this is Oaxaca, Mexico. It is no wonder that some of the believers wear cowboy hats. Even though I know this in my head, the combination of Gothic style and cowboy hats makes me wonder.
