Shoeshiners are doing business everywhere in Mexico City, and there was one in Plaza Santo Domingo. Here, a man polishes shoes on a platform with a sunshade. In this area, there are not only businessmen, but also many people in everyday clothes who wear leather shoes, so there must be a demand for shoe-shine business.
In most cases, when the shoe-shine man sees me, he looks happy and approaches me. And they come up to me. I guess they think I am a good money-maker. However, their expectations are quickly betrayed and they look disappointed. I was wearing sandals, and there was no room for a shoe-shine man.
