When walking through residential areas in South and Southeast Asia, it is not unusual to see people relaxing on their front porches. I don't know the reason for this, but I imagine there are two reasons. One is that it is hot inside the house without air conditioning, and the other is that it is dimly lit inside the house even though there is electricity.
Here in Aurangabad, India, I saw also people lounging on their front porches as I walked around. Mothers were chatting with their children in tow. As I approached them, the mothers and children stopped chatting and looked at me at once. When I pointed my camera at them, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves, and one girl, in particular, made a peace sign.
