The grounds of the Hie Shrine were not crowded. I think this is a good place to take a break from walking. Despite being in the middle of the city, the grounds of the shrine have a quiet and serene atmosphere.

When I came to the splendid new gate, I found a trio of people, a boy and two girls, hanging out under the eaves. They seemed to be tourists from abroad. They seemed to have finished sightseeing on the temple grounds and were resting and chatting. Perhaps they are discussing where to go next.
