Kozan-ji Temple in Shimonoseki is the family temple of the Chofu Mori clan. A small gate stood at the entrance of this historic temple, which was founded as far back as 1327. Despite the history of the temple, the gate was small, and although the gate in front of the Buddhist temple is called Sanmon regardless of its form, this gate did not seem to fit the bill. It looked like a simple service gate.
Tall trees lined both sides of the narrow, uphill approach. The approach was shaded by trees. It was pleasant to walk towards the main hall of this temple in the shade of the trees.
