It was hot again that day in Ho Chi Minh City. The alleyway I was walking through was not only hot, but also muggy, as the wind did not pass between buildings. Maybe that's why the front doors of the houses were open unguarded.
As I walked down one such alley, I saw a black dog sleeping disheveled on the doorstep. He seemed to be sleeping soundly. It seemed to have crawled out of the darkness and was lying there, looking as if it had run out of steam. It had been a hot day for humans, and it must have been even hotter for the furry dog. Sleeping on the tiled floor seemed a bit cooler.
