I was looking at the Pashupatinath Temple, which stands on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. The riverside was a cremation ground, and smoke was rising from several places. Hindus, who do not have the custom of building graves, are cremated here and their ashes are spread in the holy river. Since pagans are not allowed to enter the temple, I watched from the riverside on the other side of the temple.
One would think that such a holy river would flow quietly and majestically, but this was not the case. Local children were noisily swimming in the river. Seeing them swimming happily, I was worried that they might be possessed, and at the same time, I was worried that they might get a stomach ache.
