As I walked along the roadside, a peculiar bicycle caught my attention. Mounted above the front wheel was a large wooden board, neatly arranged with an assortment of tools—screwdrivers, files, and other equipment. It appeared to be a mobile tool shop, a business on two wheels.
In India, especially in cities like Mumbai, smartphones are widely used. Yet, unlike in Japan, where companies like Monotaro have made tool shopping as easy as a few taps on a screen, online tool retailers may not be as prevalent here. That gap in accessibility might be exactly why businesses like this still thrive—where a man can load up his bicycle with tools and pedal through the city, selling directly to those who need them.
