Three boys playing in an alley, gathered for a photo
These boys were playing in an alley in Mumbai. They were all different heights and, from what I could see, different ages. Here, as in Japan in the past, a community of children seems to have been formed without regard to age. The oldest boy was the leader of the group, and the three boys were playing well together.
When they spotted the SLR camera I was carrying, they immediately stopped playing and came over to me. They lined up in front of the camera. The three boys looked straight into the lens and seemed to be enjoying themselves. Even here in Mumbai, children are very interested in cameras.
