There were no cars in Okachimachi's shopping district; pedestrians and bicycles took center stage

Ameyoko is the most famous shopping street between Ueno Station and Okachimachi Station. Even if you have never actually visited it, you may have seen it bustling with many people shopping at the end of the year on TV. When you think of Okachimachi, Ameyoko has such a strong presence.

However, the Ameyoko shopping street is not the only shopping street in this area. There are others as well. For example, Ueno Naka-dori Avenue, where I was walking at the time, is one of them. Ueno Naka-dori, which branches off from Ameyoko's Ueno side, is a different shopping street from Ameyoko.

Although the street is different, there is no border between it and Ameyoko. If you don't know anything about it, you might think that this street is part of the Ameyoko shopping street. In fact, most people probably don't care about such things. As long as you can buy what you want, it doesn't matter whether the store you are buying from belongs to the Ameyoko shopping street or the Ueno Nakadori shopping street.

I wonder how many of the people in this photo understand that they are not walking in Ameyoko, but in Ueno Nakadori Shopping Street. Most of them probably do not.
