I was standing on the side of a large street on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, watching the traffic. The road in front of me was well paved and must have been a main road, but there were not that many cars on it. There was an idyllic atmosphere in the air.
As I was doing this, I saw a mother riding by on a motorcycle. She was riding with her younger son in the front and her older son in the back. The three of them were riding on the same bike. Neither the mother nor her two sons were wearing helmets. Perhaps helmets are not mandatory in Laos.
I pointed my camera at the motorcycle as it passed by. The mother was looking steadily in the direction of travel, but the two boys were too distracted by my camera to look at me. I think their mother was aware of the camera, because her mouth was hanging open.
