The young man was working in a maintenance shop. He was squatting next to a motorcycle and was just in the middle of tinkering with the engine. The motorcycle was a Honda, which made me a little happy as a visitor from Japan. When I approached him, he seemed a little confused, but was willing to let me take his picture. In the viewfinder, he had a beaming expression on his face and a tilaka on his forehead. Tilakas are worn as decorations, sectarian symbols, and rites of passage. For what purpose does he wear the tilaka?
