As I wandered through a bustling shopping street in Mumbai, my eyes caught sight of a family standing at a crossroads, seemingly undecided about their next destination. The grandmother and mother exuded a sense of quiet deliberation, as if carefully considering which direction to take. Beside them, however, a young girl remained blissfully unbothered, happily devouring her ice cream, as if no other concern in the world existed.
Perhaps, for her, the mere presence of her mother and grandmother was enough—an unshakable source of security.
All three women, spanning three generations, wore earrings and were dressed neatly, their appearance polished and refined. Compared to the passersby weaving through the shopping street, they carried an air of unfamiliarity, as if they had arrived from somewhere else, searching for something unknown. Their presence felt slightly out of place—not unwelcome, but distinct, like travelers momentarily pausing before continuing their journey.
