An elderly woman stood in front of me with a piece of cloth on top of her head as a cushion. This woman was one of the transporters at the market in Denpasar. She was manually delivering loads into the market. Human being carried a basket with a load in it on his head here. Many people put cushions between the basket and the head to rest firmly the basket on their heads. The cushion above this old woman's head was such a cushion.
Women seem to join men in doing heavy work in Bali. In this market, too, women are doing heavy work, such as carrying heavy loads, and I saw women doing heavy work at a construction site. On this island, heavy work may not be decided to be done by men.
